Senior Jasmine Brown and Freshman Tory Kemp improved on their Region Meet performances to finish 2nd and 6th out of 12 athletes at the Division II State Pentathlon in Murfreesboro.
Brown, who finished 3rd in last year's Pentathlon, finished with 3,256 points, 150 points higher than her score at last week's region meet. She improved over her region marks in 4 of the 5 events, and equaled the 5th. She was first in the Long Jump with a jump of 17' 4.75", the longest jump of the season for GPS.
Kemp, a freshman participating in her first State Pentathlon, finished with 2,785 points, improving on her region score by 50 points. She improved over her region marks in 3 of the 5 events, and moved to 6th place after qualifying for the meet with the 7th best score.
